Aside from performing and recording we give lessons to a select group of dedicated guitar students. Our students vary widely in both age and occupation but all have an inspiring desire to increase their knowledge and skill on guitar. Both of us are patient and move along at an individual pace with each student. We give one-on-one lessons in a comfortable environment and are located in downtown NYC very close to all subway lines. There is always a guitar here for students to use during lessons. There are many great guitarists in New York City, but this doesn’t always carry over in their lessons. Learn from guitarists that can teach as well as play. |

Slide and Regular Guitar • Beginners - Intermediate I am a self-taught musician and have developed my own unique way of teaching music and guitar. My approach is instinctual, which is appreciated by beginning and intermediate guitarists alike. Students that have taken lessons prior to coming to me tell me all too often about their other guitar teachers who turned what should have been exciting lessons into a dreary task, this will not be the case with me. My lessons are oriented to help you absorb the music you want to play at your own pace and within your own abilities. Along with being shown the song ideas you want to learn, you will also be shown the roots of these statements and their many applications by other great guitarists. It all comes down to vocabulary; after you learn certain catch phrases you will be able to play them at your discretion and creative whimsy. I will not bog you down with scales and theory. My interest is that you learn the songs and techniques needed to master the material you want to learn. I teach both regular guitar and also slide guitar specializing in roots music, rock, garage, and blues. |

We've been sending all of our students to Rick Kelly
the Luthier at Carmine Street Guitars to get their guitars set-up and
also to find really great guitars. So far at least 10 of our students
have found G&L's, acoustics, or custom made Kellys made by Rick
himself. |
